Ticket sales for the Museum’s Mammoth Raffle will start on June 24, 2022 and will continue until 11:00 am, CDT, September 3, 2022.

In order to be eligible you must be 18 years of age or older. You also must be willing to have your name and image publicized if you are the winner the Grand Prize and any of the Weekly Prizes. All members of the staff of the Owensboro Museum of Science and History and its Board of Directors and their close family members are not eligible to participate.

Raffle Tickets may be purchased at the Museum’s Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle ticket booth located on the Riverfront during “Friday after 5” in Owensboro, Kentucky. Tickets may also be purchased at the Museum, 122 E. Second St., Owensboro, Kentucky. The price of each raffle ticket is $5.00 cash. No checks, credit or debit cards will be accepted. There is no limit to the number of tickets each participant may purchase.

Raffle Tickets purchased for the 2022 Mammoth Raffle may not be used for any future raffles the Museum may conduct. The Museum is not liable for, nor will it replace, any lost, stolen or mutilated raffle tickets.

All raffle tickets sold beginning June 24, 2022 and ending September 3, 2022 will be placed in one clear acrylic box and stored in a secure place at the Museum. The Grand Prize winner will be selected by a blind folded individual who will select one ticket randomly by reaching his or her hand into the box and pulling out one ticket. This drawing will take place on September 3, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. CDT at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History, 122 E. Second St., Owensboro, Kentucky.  The winner does not have to be present to win. Any disputes concerning who the winner is will be determined by the Museum and its decision will be final.

Every Friday, at the close of ticket sales for that night, a Weekly Drawing will be held. It will be only for participants who purchased tickets that evening and will be for a prize with a value of $450.00 or less. Examples include restaurant gift cards and tickets to UK and UofL ball games. WINNING A WEEKLY PRIZE DOES NOT AFFECT A PARTICIPANT’S ELIGIBILITY FOR THE GRAND PRIZE. After the Weekly Drawing, the tickets that were sold that night will be added to all the other tickets that have been sold previously and which are eligible for the Grand Prize.

The number of the winning tickets for both the Grand and Weekly Prizes will be posted on the Museum’s website, www.owensboromuseum.org, it’s Facebook page, and on the front door of the Museum at 122 E. Second Street, Owensboro, Kentucky.  All Weekly Prizes must be claimed within a week of the drawing and no later than noon on the Friday after the winning ticket was purchased. Any unclaimed Weekly Prizes will be forfeited by the winner and the prize will be used as a Weekly Prize at a subsequent Weekly Drawing.

The winner of the Grand Prize has thirty (30) days from September 3, 2022 or until October 3, 2022 to claim the prize. Verification that the ticket presented as the winning ticket is authentic will be done by the Museum Staff. The number of the winning ticket will be posted on the Museum’s Facebook page and website, www.owensboromuseum.org and on the door to the Museum at 122 E. Second St., Owensboro, Kentucky. The Grand Prize will be 50% of the total amount of money the Museum raised from selling tickets for the Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle.

If the winning ticket for the Grand Prize is not claimed on or before October 3, 2022, or if the winner of the Grand Prize is deemed ineligible for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and another ticket will be randomly drawn by the Museum. The Museum has no obligation to contact potential winners. The Grand Prize will be delivered in the form of a check within thirty (30) days of the winner presenting a verified as authentic winning Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle ticket. For security and safety reasons, no cash payments will be made to the Grand Prize winner.

The odds of winning the Grand Prize are based on the total number of Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle tickets purchased during the entry period.

Each participant acknowledges that he/she has been informed that the IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries, or similar programs sponsored by charities and not-for-profit organizations are not gifts and therefore, the price of a raffle ticket does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution.

The Grand Prize winner is responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes, fees and other government assessments on the awarded Grand Prize. The Grand Prize winner also acknowledges that federal law requires that tax be withheld on prizes of more than $600, and therefore the check for the Grand Prize may be less than 50% of the total amount of money taken in by ticket sales, because the federal tax will have been withheld if the winnings are $600 or more. The federal and state withholding laws are subject to change without notice. The withholding laws in effect at the time the Grand Prize is claimed will be followed.

Raffle tickets cannot be resold to any other party, and any Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle ticket which has been resold will be void. All participants who re-sell, purchase, or receive a raffle ticket in violation of these Official Rules shall be ineligible to win the Grand Prize.

By participating in the Museum’s Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle, the participant(s) waives any claims of liability it may have against the Museum as a result of

 (a) any injury to the participant (including death) or the participant's property that occurs in connection with participation in the Museum’s Mammoth Half-Pot Raffle, receiving any prize, or any activity which arises out of the same.
