Visit and interact with the museum’s new temporary exhibit, “World War I and America”, sponsored by a grant received from the Library of America in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the National Endowment for the Humanities. April 6, 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of the United States’entrance into World War I. Patrons will have a chance to walk through a WWI trench, learn what life was like for the soldiers and how Owensboro’s Homefront helped the war effort. The exhibit will run from April 1st through November 11, 2017.

A live African Penguin from the Newport Aquarium will be visiting the Owensboro Museum of Science and History on Saturday, May 20th! Have you ever wanted to look at a penguin up close, as they waddle, wiggle and shake their tails? Then this is the program for you! A presentation full of fun and interesting facts will interest both adults and kids and everyone will have the chance to take up close photos of a penquin and even touch one!   The encounter is included in the price of admission and of course, museum members are always free!

Visit and interact with the museum’s new temporary exhibit, “World War I and America”, sponsored by a grant received from the Library of America in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the National Endowment for the Humanities. April 6, 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of the United States’entrance into World War I. Patrons will have a chance to walk through a WWI trench, learn what life was like for the soldiers and how Owensboro’s Homefront helped the war effort. The exhibit will run from April 1st through November 11, 2017.

Schools Out Science Camp for K-1 Graders! A partnership between OMSH and the Ky Science Center!
Join us for a week of TALL TALES - Hey Diddle Diddle! Dive into the science inside your favorite tall tale! Have you wondered if a cow could really jump over the moon? Can you build a suit to protect Humpty Dumpty during a three-story fall? Explore the world of tall tales from medieval times, when many of these stories originated, to our real lives now! Registration is $175 for the week; OMSH members receive a 10% discount! Drop off starts at 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and pick up lasts until 5:00 p.m. The camp itself begins at 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
